"Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer (elder), he desires a noble task. Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.
Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus." -I Timothy 3:1-13 (NIV)
The above verses from I Timothy lay out the biblical standards for elders and deacons. At First Christian Church, we hold Scripture to be authoritative and do our best to choose our church leaders in accordance with the guidance given in God's Word. Listed to the right are the names of our trustees, elders and deacons. Please keep them in your prayers as they prayerfully lead our congregation.

It's always good to put a face with a name. Listed below are the names and smiling faces of the chairpersons of the Board of Servants, Trustees, Elders, and Deacons of First Christian Church for 2009. These folks eagerly wish to serve Christ and His Church. The congregation of First Christian Church is excited to have the brothers and sisters listed below as the leaders of our Board of Servants. We humbly ask that you keep them in your prayers as they seek to serve the servants of our congregation and direct the ministry of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Perryton, Texas.
To contact any of our leaders, click on their picture to e-mail them directly, or contact the church office via phone or e-mail. They are here to do God's work whatever and wherever that may be.

Board Minutes
Our board meetings are open to any member of our church who cares to attend. We encourage our congregation to be as actively involved as possible. Although the meetings are open and congregational involvement is encouraged, it is not always possible for every interested member to attend board meetings.
It is the Board of Servants' desire to be as transparent as possible, both to our congregation and to the community. We invite anyone who is interested to read the minutes to our meetings. Click on the link to the right to read a summary of the minutes to the most recent meeting of our Board of Servants. Those that are interested in reading the minutes in their entirety can obtain a copy from our church office. If you are unable to drop by, simply give us a call at 806-435-4041 or drop us a note via email at church@fccperryton.com .

| Our Constitution and By-Laws |
Our Constitution and By-Laws was last amended on December 15, 1996. It serves as the primary document, outside of Scripture, by which we govern our church body. The preambe tells the reason for its existence.
"We, the members of First Christian Church, a Congregationally governed body, in order to promote the work of the Church in the spirit of Christ, and thus advance God's Kingdom, do hereby adopt this constitution and by-laws."
In order that all should know how we organize and govern ourselves in order to effectively do God's work, we have posted the entire document here on our website. We invite anyone who is interested to click on the document to the right to review our Constitution.
